The History of Curtis Software, Inc.

Curtis® Software Inc. began in 1986 as a medical billing service for its physician founder, Curtis L. Birchall, M.D. At that time, few medical-billing service bureaus or software suppliers offered a satisfactory medical claim reimbursement solution. Interactions of diagnosis, procedure codes, CMNs (Certifications of Medical Necessity) and Medicare regulations made medical billing difficult. Specialized therapies like Parenteral/Enteral nutrition were particularly time consuming and costly to bill.

As a result, the company developed its own customized software - Proclaim® PEN Billing Software. The first version attracted immediate attention for several reasons. It was understandable, easy-to-use and written for the current generation of business computers. Also, the software delivered the speed, accuracy and capability required for efficient PEN billing.

Curtis Software has established itself as a leading supplier of specialized, and uniquely medical billing software products. What's more, Curtis Software Inc. provides a wide variety of on going support services. This includes easy-to-understand documentation, on-site software training, remote "on-line" software support, regular software updates, billing forms, as well as a user's group newsletter filled with billing tips.

Medical claims billing services for specialized therapies like parenteral/enteral nutrition, urologicals, ostomy, I.V. infusion, surgicals, etc. are always available. Now called ClaimCare, the original company has grown into one of the industry's most trusted electronic medical billing bureaus. The ClaimCare division also serves Curtis Software with a real-world lab for continual development and testing of medical software and upgrades.

The most unique feature of Curtis Software, Inc. is its ability to help its clients in more than the standard ways with billing. For example, if a billing service or company using the software starts falling behind in billing, ClaimCare can be used to "catch up" in billing by simply faxing the patient information to our corporate office. Later, the billing and claims information entered and used by ClaimCare can be downloaded back to the user's computer system so that all information is accessible. No other software company has this powerful flexibility and reasonable billing rates.
